Returning here again, helps me to improve both my mental model and real world FWD drifts seen on my page. ---- 1:14 (Reasonable indication point to apply throttle, i.e. when car is balanced, when oversteer is controlled wrt apex) ---- 2:23 (Consequences of overdriving) ---- 3:38 (Consequences of throttling too much wrt apex, results in "power understeer" which may actually be repaired by left foot braking appropriately) ---- 7:02 (After already having triggered oversteer, lack of throttle means we may spin out) As noted, with FWD we sideway the car into the corner, while with RWD we can create momentum and slide through an entire longer corner.

Having now owned an m3 for over 2 months, not sure i agree. Felt more sp3cial for rhe first few drives because of the motorsport credentials but definitely missing the sense of drama the AMG would have . The looks are good, not great. Interior is very durable , always has one issue after another hahaha but overall its a fantastic car but i prefer more torque. The AMG is more fun but the M car then claws things back when you rev it to 8k without breaking the speed limit. The sound is nowhere near as special as the c63 even when revved up. The thing the M car wins hands down on is the transmission , and thats the only thing that sets it apart . Not when approaching a junction, it hesitates way too much but once yiure on the go, that DCT is spectacular for its age

Found this video around 1 year ago, but by then I had already been drifting my Fk8, wish I had found it at the start. (a) I learnt by experience and estimation, about working the throttle, lift off oversteering, just to control oversteer and avoid hitting curbs. (b) Afterwards I naturally learnt to operate wrt points looking like an apex. If I had seen this video first, I would have started with a combination of (b) and (a), not merely mostly (a)!!! This is probably where Harris learnt to drift FWD, which lead to him drifting fk8 and beyond:

I defy 99% of drivers to tell the difference in the standard vs the S models. Not nearly enough was done to turn a "failure" into something to rave over. Slightly lower, with bigger wheels and a leather dash. My 2.4 is enough to put a smile on my face when I drive it, and a bigger one when I polish it. It's a very special car, and as I have no intention to track-day the car, the handling is a pretty good compromise between handling and comfort. It also has the potential to outrun the 3.2 with some tuning.

The Throttle/ torque response of the M113K in the SL55 was actually instant , it was just that the 5G box could be slow to change or kickdown. There was no false from that engine either, it was all real V8 noise with a hint of supercharger whine.

Think I’ll try that this winter, I’ve only done FWD “drift” by pulling my e brake on corner entry on snow covered roads, I think trying to do that on dry pavement wound just tear the car up unnecessary. 06 vibe 1zz with upgraded rear sway bar.
